AI tools
This page is for everyone, not only developers. A free ChatGPT account is the weakest AI you have access to: it runs the smaller models, stops you mid-task, and free consumer tiers may train on what you type. We pay for better tools, so use those.
Developers: the command line tools (Claude Code, Codex CLI) and the rules around AI-written code are in AI assisted software development.
Which tool for what
Section titled “Which tool for what”| Situation | Use |
|---|---|
| Client data, personal data, credentials, anything confidential | Local LLM |
| Writing, research, summaries, working through documents | Claude Desktop |
| Anything you would otherwise type into free ChatGPT | Claude Desktop |
Claude Desktop
Section titled “Claude Desktop”- Ask an admin for a seat on the company Claude plan. We buy AI subscriptions centrally, so ask before paying for one yourself.
- Install the app by following Install Claude Desktop (Windows and macOS).
- Sign in with the company account you were invited with, not a personal one.
Local LLM
Section titled “Local LLM”chat.d-centralize.nl runs on office hardware and signs you in with your d-centralize account. Nothing you type leaves the company network, which makes it the right place for confidential material. It needs the office network or the company VPN, and its models are smaller than the cloud ones.
What not to paste into cloud AI
Section titled “What not to paste into cloud AI”Sending normal work to a US-based AI service is fine. Keep credentials, secrets, and confidential client or personal data out of it, and use the local LLM for those instead. If you are unsure, ask in Mattermost before pasting.
